OUR STORY

Why Glory Church?

God is glorious. He is gloriously holy, loving, just, and kind. The word glory literally means “weight.” The glory of God is the weight of all that He is. It is the sum of all His greatness. We are planting Glory Church because we believe that everything we do should point to God's greatness!

Whether it be pursuing an education, the relationships we form, how we use our finances, or even our favorite hobbies, everything we do should revolve around our glorious Creator and be viewed as a way to bring Him glory (1 Corinthians 10:31)

Our Purpose, Prayer, and Processes flow from our belief that God is glorious, which drives us to declare his glory from generation to generation.

Why Pike County?

Page-019.png

We love the hills of Eastern Kentucky and the people they hold, and we want to see this area thrive.

The vast majority of our neighbors in Pike County are not involved in a local church of any denomination. We want to see that change, for the glory of God and for the ultimate good of our communities.

God's "Plan A" for bringing hope, healing, restoration, and new life is the gospel of Jesus Christ, and it is through multiplying communities of disciples who make much of Jesus that this gospel transformation can spread.

While there are already hundreds of churches in Pike County, even if every house of worship was full each Sunday, there still wouldn't be enough space to hold the population of this county or the large proportion of individuals and families who commute here. The reality is that, if we want to see more lives changed by the gospel and communities of disciples grow, Pike County needs more churches on mission.

By God's grace, we hope to see a lifestyle of worship and disciple-making become the norm and change the trajectory of hearts, homes, and lives in this region. We want to see families reaching families, students reaching students, coworkers reaching coworkers, neighbors reaching neighbors all throughout the mountains. We want to see disciples make disciples.

It is our desire to see God glorified in Eastern Kentucky through gospel transformation for generations to come, and we are planting Glory Church in pursuit of that prayer.
